Vielleicht kann man es sich im Zeitalter der modernen Kommunikation gar nicht mehr vorstellen, doch vor rund 150 Jahren war die Post eines der wichtigsten H\u00e4user jeder Stadt. Schliesslich sorgte sie f\u00fcr s\u00e4mtliche Kommunikation \u00fcber weite Strecken und war somit ein unerl\u00e4sslicher\u00a0Dreh- und Angelpunkt.<\/p>\n<p>Das oben genannte Postgeb\u00e4ude, welches ein Jahr fr\u00fcher erbaut wurde, diente <em>James Scott Howard<\/em> als Postamt und Wohnsitz der Familie. Dieses Postamt existiert, in erstaunlich gutem Zustand, noch immer\u00a0und fungiert\u00a0auch\u00a0heute noch als Postamt, aber auch als Lehrst\u00e4tte und Museum. Es zeigt auf eine anschauliche Weise wie die erste\u00a0Post von Toronto ab 1834 funktionierte und welche zentrale Rolle sie\u00a0f\u00fcr die Entwicklung der Metropole hatte.
