Es ist warm geworden und die Stadt zeigt sich in einem pr\u00e4chtig gr\u00fcnen Kleid, das ist die richtige Zeit um die <em>Toronto Islands<\/em> zu besuchen. Im Gegensatz zu Boston wurde hier weder der Hafen noch die Inseln von Hand gebaut. Der Naturhafen und auch die <em>Toronto Islands<\/em> haben sich durch Sedimentation herausgebildet. Toronto h\u00e4tte auch keine nennenswerten Erhebungen, die man oder eben\u00a0Mann h\u00e4tte abbauen k\u00f6nnen. Der niedrigste Punkt liegt am Ufer des Ontariosees auf 75 Meter und der h\u00f6chste Punkt nahe der York University im Norden der Stadt auf 270 Meter \u00fcber dem Meeresspiegel. Trotzdem und um fair zu bleiben, man hat scheinbar auch hier die Inseln durch Landgewinnung verbreitert.<\/p>\n<p>Zuerst aber noch ein paar Worte zum See. Da der Ontariosee von den vielen umliegenden Fl\u00fcssen und B\u00e4chen gespiesen wird, verf\u00fcgt er zu jeder Jahreszeit \u00fcber gen\u00fcgend Wasser. Es hat soviel Wasser, dass die Stadt mit Seewasser versorgt werden kann und dies sp\u00fcrt man im Vergleich zu anderen Grossst\u00e4dten, den das Hahnenwasser schmeckt\u00a0kaum nach Chlor. Zudem ist die Wassertemperatur am Grund des sehr tiefen Ontariosees das ganze Jahr nur rund 4\u00b0C und l\u00e4sst sich deshalb prima zur K\u00fchlung der B\u00fcrogeb\u00e4ude in der Innenstadt verwenden (dazu gibt es ein hier speziell entwickeltes Verfahren &#8211; das war mir dann aber zu technisch \ud83d\ude09 ).<\/p>\n<p>Mit der F\u00e4hre\u00a0ging es also auf den \u00f6stlichen Teil der\u00a0Inselgruppe (zur Erinnerung, im Westen befindet sich\u00a0der <em>Billy Bishop Airport<\/em>). Wundersch\u00f6n die Skyline von Toronto, idyllisch, ruhig, sauber und penibel gepflegt die Insel.
